Sinulog 2011 Grand Parade... The Streets

All right, this is an overdue post. Pardonnez-moi, mes amis. :D I promised my friends I'd post pixies from the Grand Parade, which happened over a week ago. And here they are. As usual, I took about 10 or so shots for each scene, which I think is one of the reasons why it took me so long to choose and edit these darn things. The wood nymphs we first spotted when we crossed and got inside the rope that cordons off the participants from the crowd... a privilege courtesy of a Php750 ID. :P The first contingent we saw on the way to the City Sports Complex    The crowd near Fuente Circle Noah-inspired contingent   Ley with an "ape kid"  We spied these giants on the way, too. And Hetty with some fans as well... Sandiego Dance Troupe Butterflies! Snake Guy Almost bumped into him... I squealed. :P Tejero School   The streets at lunch time... I have so many pictures and I think this post is too long already. So I will put the rest of th...

My Girlfriend's Boyfriend

This past week, I've been busy watching Covert Affairs. That new CIA show that stars Piper Perabo. You know, that girl in Coyote Ugly. Well, you may ask why, and the only answer I could give you is that I like the actors. I like Piper Perabo. And way more than that, I love Christopher Gorham. I can't exactly point my finger on the exact reason, but I do. I've liked him since that show Popular. Yes, yes, so cliched of me to be so. But hey, everyone has their quirks. Anyway, when I started watching Covert Affairs, it somehow lead me to check Gorham's profile in IMDB, and voila! I just had to check recent movies he's made. When I saw this "rom com" he has with Alyssa Milano, another fave from an old fave show, I quickly searched out the torrent and downloaded the darn thing. And, throw me tomatoes if you want, but I actually liked the film. It is not some highly complicated intelligently grandiose film. It is just some plain "feel good" movie. ...

Moi, the Wannabe Traveler

Being a citizen of a third world country is all kinds of inconvenient, especially if you want to be a seasoned traveler. Why? Not only do you need to be super rich if you want to travel out of the country, you'd also need to have connections. And not just any connections, they would have to be powerful ones at that.  Well, at least we have ASEAN, right? Which is why the only places I could visit for now are those that belong to the ASEAN. And I can only travel if I was lucky enough to get bargain plane tickets. All right, enough with the ranting. I'm gonna thank the heavens now. I'm gonna thank the heavens that I was lucky enough to have a very beautiful and great friend who just couldn't wait to help me be the adventuress that I want to be. (She and her new hubby are going to welcome us to their home so we'd be saving some moolah for accommodations. She's incredible, right?!) And I'm gonna thank the heavens that Joan and I were lucky enough to get rela...

Foxy Loxy the Chihuahua

This is one of the hazards of shopping for gifts, especially for kiddies. You end up bagging something extra for yourself. :P Yes, yes, I could be such a kid myself but how can I resist such cuties. If you're one of my friends, you'd know that the exclamation "That's so cute!" is not so uncommon with me, especially when I'm in the mall. And so, yes, I bought an extra toy because I fell in love with her when I saw her. Saw her when I was shopping for a gift for a two year-old cutie. I bought a fuzzy St. Bernard puppy stuffie for the said little boy and her for moi. I dub her Foxy Loxy. I'm sometimes unoriginal, so sue me! :P   She's so cute, with that slightly lopsided grin. The tag says she's a chihuahua but I've decided then and there that she's a fox. And I get to have the last say because I am the master. :P Besides, she doesn't look like a chihuahua. Does she look like a chihuahua to you?   *~*

Forever Odd by Dean Koontz

I finished the second book in Dean Koontz's Odd series a few days ago and all I can say is that I felt it was wanting. I'm not kidding. The super villain somehow felt superficial to me. And sometimes the references to last book's events and how he lost Stormy was a bit too overdone that I felt exasperated enough to roll my eyes and sigh. Nevertheless, I still love Odd. He is still cute to me, this seer of the lingering dead. And his love for a friend is also quite endearing that at times I found myself muttering to nobody in particular if I could have permission to kiss him. Haha. Yes, I talk to myself. So sue me. I think the main complaint I have regarding this book is that Datura didn't feel like a worthy adversary for Odd. The descriptions of her sounded ominously evil in print but I just can't reconcile "Datura in print" to the "Datura that should have been" in my head.  In my opinion, she was just simply a wacko... and a boring one at tha...
